Verify your email

On Overview, follow the verification link sent at signup. This unlocks API keys and the rest of the dashboard. If you did not receive it, use Resend email and check your spam folder.

Your account starts with 10 free welcome calls, excluding SMS. Development simulations use neither this benefit nor your Production balance.

Test dashboard overview with sample data.

Create a Development key

  1. Open API keys and select Development.
  2. Click Create key, name your test, and confirm.
  3. Copy the secret now. It appears only once; store it in a server-side environment variable.

Send a ping

Ping checks authentication, project, quota, and balance without executing a service. Use the same URL as Production. Send the public key and secret via HTTP Basic.

bash
curl 'https://api.apifordevs.com/api/v1/ping/billable?dev_mode=true&summary=true' \
  -u "afd_test_pk_...:$APIFORDEVS_TEST_SECRET" \
  -H 'X-Project-Id: proj_...'

You can also select Ping in Playground, fill the fields, and click Simulate free of charge. The dashboard shows the response and lets you copy the request as cURL.

Read the response

FieldMeaning
billablefalse means there was no charge.
dev_modetrue confirms a simulation.
price0.000000 is the simulation price.
log_idUse this ID to find the request under Calls.

The response has the same envelope as other APIs: success, code, errors, header, data_count, and data. Results are always a list in data.

Choose a service

Browse the Catalog by category or name. Open a service for fields, use cases, status, and typical price. Then use Try now to prepare a call in Playground. To run it for real, create a Production key and remove dev_mode.

Quick answers

No. A Development key with `dev_mode=true` simulates responses at no cost.
